It's Come to This

As I ponder the ridiculous attempt by the TU to try to make John McCain's latest bad choice as appearing "presidential" it reminds me of when I drove by the Albany Democratic HQ yesterday. It appears the Albany "Democrats" have no opinion on the current presidential race as there are no Obama/Biden signs in their windows. To their credit, they have not put up any McCain Palin signs either. Yet. Those same windows were plastered with Clinton signs during the primary.

As for the Times Union. Apparently you only think with your pocket books. Remember the last presidential election? We were fighting two wars and they weren't going well. Still fighting them. Still aren't going well. Apparently some problems for some super rich bankers on Wall Street are more of a crisis than having 200,000 or so US troops in the line of fire? Did anyone suspend their campaigns in 2004 and go to Iraq? Don't look now, but your true color is showing, and it looks a whole lot like the color used for the picture of the first president of the US that is in your pocket. I wonder what he would've done in a time of crisis?

PS. The next time there is some "crisis" I recommend that instead of "reporting" on it, you go and try to help fix it. Live up to your own high standards. Don't stand around with your dicks in your hands and say "there is a cat in a tree and mayor jennings is frantically taking calls on his radio show to try to wake up an employee to deal with it". No...no. Climb that fucking tree and show us how to lead.

Please.

Update [2008-9-28 20:23:54 by DIA]: Perhaps its just coincidence. Maybe the Albany Dems all of a sudden realized there was an election coming up and decided to put up some Obama signs. Maybe my post had nothing to do with their reaction (still no Soares signs). Or perhaps it did. And between the choice of sitting through a bunch of meetings in a roomful of people where quite recently Jerry Jennings was seen as some sort of god or writing a bit on this blog, I'll take the later if the end result is the same. If it gets the local Democrats to festoon their HQ with Obama Biden signs, as they have since my post, I'll skip those meetings. (when i say some sort of god, i'm of course thinking in the norse or perhaps hindu sense of things. They've got a lot of gods. Hell, Bacchus was a god somewhere (editors note: Rome). Seems to me like the guy was maybe qualified to be a mayor of a small city and that being a god was a bit of a stretch. So, it is a low bar i use when I refer to some thinking of jennings as some sort of god). Anyway, did everyone have to take the mythology classes I had to in NY public school?

If that didn't really make sense, the end result is that the Albany Dem HQ no longer looks like an abandoned office and they put up some signs supporting the presidential candidate from their party.

Obama has not promised any goodies to the Albany Dems?  How dare he.

I've had friends of mine, not politically active at all, who've been fired up by the Obama campaign ask me where they can get lawn signs and other stuff, and in the past that place would be HQ, obviously, but not now.
Actually, when I told them to go to HQ, they laughed and said they tried but no one was there. How discouraging that must be to want to get involved and repeatedly go over to Colvin Ave only to stare into a darkened office.
It's kinda sad, actually. Say what you want about the machine, but at least it was always running and in the old days you didn't have to look far for guidance on how to support your favorite Democratic candidate. Maybe on a Satuday morning you might catch someone over there.
I guess the only way is to go online and shell out some money for what you want.

I stopped by last week but they had no signs - they had a waiting list. I am hearing this from all over the country.

Frankly I didn't mind that much because its a lot more important to get these materials out in Ohio and Virginia etc than here in solid-blue New York.

Living here in Wisconsin, the taxpig state, the reason there are no signs, is because all you see on TV here is Curious George's face. They are spending all their money on ads.
