Before the Cock Crows...

Perhaps Jerry is getting too old to be Mayor. He seems to be suffering from some sort of severe form of memory loss. Or perhaps it is integrity loss? But then again, you can't lose something you never had.
In an interview Friday, Jennings initially said he was "not that close to the group or Mr. (Sam) Fresina."

When pressed, Jennings, who was briefly a member of Local 190 as a younger man, then said: "I've been friends with the Fresinas for a long time."
Anyone remember this article from 1998. It seems to mention Jennings and the Fresina family. You be the judge of whether Jerry in 2008 is telling the truth about his association with Sam Fresina.
Fresina has been a close political ally of Jennings, who said he stood behind Fresina and was unaware of the ethics charges. Jennings said he doesn't believe the allegations.

``Absolutely no way,'' Jennings said. ``I've known him too long. I wish I had more labor leaders like him that I could work with.''
Hmmm. Seems like Mayor Jennings in 2008 doesn't agree with Mayor Jennings in 1998.
Fresina's union topped the mayor's list of contributors in his first mayoral bid in 1993. In Jennings' 1997 re-election campaign, Laborers' groups allied with Fresina donated more than $15,000 to the mayor's coffers.

Fresina and Jennings have worked together on a $6 million federal lead-abatement grant. The city and the union teamed up to hire and train workers to clean up lead in an estimated 500 homes in low-income neighborhoods. Jennings on Thursday cut the ribbon on the program's first house on Orange Street. Fresina, who Dolcimascolo said is vacationing in Florida, was not present.

Fresina and several relatives have also served in the Jennings administration. Fresina was a member of the mayor's transition team in 1993.

The mayor's executive assistant, Nicholas D'Antonio, is Fresina's cousin, as is Nicholas' brother, John D'Antonio, who runs the city's recreation programs and was recently tapped to be assistant commissioner. Fresina's son, Samuel A. Fresina, is the president of the Albany firefighters union.
Hey remember when Nicholas was just the mayor's "assistant"? Anyone know what Nicholas is doing now? Oh, right, he is now the Commissioner of DGS. I'm sure Jerry and Nicky never mentioned Uncle Sammy when deciding if Nicky was qualified for the job despite only having a high school education. Never came up.

Jerry, you should know that it is not good to deny your friends in times of trouble. Or your party. First you abandon the democrats and endorse Republicans. And now you claim to not be associated with Sam Fresina?

this Jennings quote from today's TU:

Change starts on one block
Fellowship works toward restoring neighborhood

[The] New Covenant Christian Fellowship has amassed 18 buildings and lots in Arbor Hill and West Hill. It acquired four homes from Potter's widow, including the first of a cluster that church volunteers are refitting with ceramic tiles and fresh pine in their drive to build high-quality housing for low-income tenants. [...]

The scale of New Covenant's growth was news to Mayor Jerry Jennings: "I knew they were looking at properties," he says. "I didn't know it was that many."

Now those are the words of a man who is on top of the anti-blight programs in his city.

DIA... I really have got to hand it to you. It's a rare individual who can get up at 5AM, pick up the paper and write up a pretty coherent analysis of whatever snippet of the issue that you're concerned with, complete with a link to a decade old newspaper story.

You're almost prescient when it comes to Jerry Jennings. Amazing.

Jerry's good old friend Sam Fresina... (none / 0) (#3)

Also employed in our great City of Albany's Repair Shop is Sean Moran, Master Mechanic, and Sam Fresina's son-in-law.  Sean is married to Sam's daughter Kelly.  Sam knew about the bombing, Anthony knew about the bombing and Gus Devine knew about the bombing.  It's disappointing they got off scot free.  I honestly hope the FBI isn't finished investigating the labor union as well as Jerry Jennings.  Knowing how close Sam and Jerry are I wouldn't put it past Jerry knowing all about it too.  Deb Brady took video of that election and on it you see Jerry, Sam Fresina and Mike Kwarta all standing next to each other smiling and talking.  Mike Kwarta was on the election ballet and Jerry was supporting him as well, he was part of the A team.  I know pictures of various city workers and the mayor attending that election, which was held in the middle of a work day, where sent to Brian Nearing.  I had asked the workers if they were being paid by the city to attend and one replied, yep, double time.  They were even standing in the line to vote, it's on film.  I do believe Brian reviewed their timesheets and they did charge a personal/ vacation day.  Seems shady that about 15 city workers (that I know of, could have been more) showed up in the middle of a work day to a labor election in Glenmont wearing A Teams support shirts, intimidation perhaps.  They were there the majority of the day.  Jennings was there from about 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Jerry Jennings and John Sweeney were at Anthony and Marcella Fresina's wedding, before Bobby Michael got Anthony's wife, Marcella, pregnant and married her.  John Sweeney didn't even bring a gift for the happy couple; probably felt Anthony owed him!

"Fresina and Jennings have worked together on a $6 million federal lead-abatement grant. The city and the union teamed up to hire and train workers to clean up lead in an estimated 500 homes in low-income neighborhoods."  When did this occur and who did the work...it wasn't Laborers' Local 190, with that long "out of work" list while this project was supposedly going on.  Where's that booty money...
Is Jerry joining Sam in Florida, for a little vaca...oh that's right I forgot Jerry and Sam had a fight...Jerry didn't use his connections to get Mike Kwarta off the arson charges because he didn't want to go up against the FBI, so Sam disowned Jerry...Anthony can't stop talking shit about Jerry...
Now to see who those DAntonio's are most loyal to Sam or Jerry?
I hear they swing a pretty hard pipe...upside your head...BAM.
