A national political convention, brought to you by our corporate sponsors

This post is not about local politics or events, but here is something that just perfectly captures an aspect of our political system.  Check out this welcome bag that attendees of the Democratic National Convention in Denver will receive.

Perfect.  Especially if you have been following the warrantless wiretapping story and the legislative changes to FISA, and the recent vote for immunity for corporations who broke the law.

It won't be too long before this story turns out to be true, I guess.

(Disclaimers, please note, I still think the Democratic party has better policies than the Republicans, I think there are representatives out there who are not complete corporate toadies, etc., etc.  If there is a lesson in this, it's that it is important to have people on the outside of the parties who are harassing them and mocking them to be better representatives.)

Good One, Layman (none / 0) (#1)

I read almost the whole article about the Capitol building before I realized it was in The Onion.  I have to admit, it kinda threw me when they said Toronto was being considered.  I thought, wow, the right wing will love this.  They would probably love the idea of Congress moving to Canada.

You need to email DIA and explain that (none / 0) (#2)

I totally 100% agree with you. The problem is far too often we democrats become followers and allow leaders with no record or leadership experience represent us. LBJ was such a leader and I see many qualities in Obama that are similar to LBJ. I have challenged DIA to a debate on why Hillary should be President of the United States of America and not Barack Obama. I am not saying Obama should never be President, but with his current qualifications and lack of experience he should not be President at this time. DIA pissed me off by making the comment that Obama is demanding something out of black males. There are plenty of black males in America older and younger than Obama that have contributed more to this country than Obama. When MLK was hosed down in Alabama, being an African American meant something, now it has been hijacked by "House Negros" like Obama. The Clinton Global Initiative and the Clintons were working for blacks well before they got into politics. Now for DIA to ignore Hillary being called a "Bitch" is wrong. That is more like Dixiecrat thinking not Democrat thinking.
