"It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new ones." Machiavelli
Credit where credit is due??By makome, Section Diaries
earlier in the month I posted a diary ranting about the paving issues in this city and how it appeared that the "haves" were getting more than there fair share of street fixing.
I noted that Washington ave and Melrose Ave were messes and needed to be fixed badly, whereas streets like Marion and South Pine were sparsely traveled and not in need of fixing, but were the first to be re-paved. To the city's (and DGS) credit they have done some nice work on both Melrose and Washington. Has anyone seen other work that needed to be done completed (or being worked on)? Also, I have some neighbors in the Melrose neighborhood that are taking advantage of the grants provided by the city for the basement water issues in this area. With all the bad things going on in this city right now, e.g. budget, police issues, landfill, etc. it's good to hear some good things...
