The Fort Orange people want to tear down some buildings in the middle of the city. What is their reasoning?
"By its very nature, the Fort Orange Club is meant to be set in a parklike setting," Wilson said.
Should've thought of that in 1810 when you built it next to the state capital. But they have another reason, too.
Herb Shultz, the club's vice president, said the average age at the 600-member club is 57 years old. For the club to prosper, he said, it needs to attract younger members and adding gym facilities will help.

how many parking spots the club would gain if they knocked down the neighboring building to the east of them?

"parking lot" has the word "park" in it.
