Freeman is using the web to introduce himself.

Tracey Brooks also is using video. However, her's starts off with Jerry Jennings endorsing her which wouldn't exactly be my first choice to introduce myself to the voters.

Freeman will be the first 21st Candidate to be hit (none / 0) (#1)
by albarbor on Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 10:04:12 AM EST
Lester Freeman sounds like an insider to me. Unless DIA or anyone else proves me wrong. Phil Steck and Tracey Brooks were born in Albany County, New York. To inform Mr. Freeman the Town of Colonie, New York is a part of the 21 District and Albany County, New York. I suppose when he was playing political science at Albany Community Development he missed that one. The South End and Arbor Hill are a mess not because of some plot by people in the "Suburbs". In his videos he sounds like Kim Jong II of North Korea trying to threaten the United States with being bad if they don't give him free food and oil.

Mr. Freeman needs to sit down with Mr. Conners and learn about the county's budget before he opens his mouth about "Medicare" suppose he meant "Medicaid". Prior to quoting Senator Schumer and Jerry's press conference he should email Craig Torres at Bloomberg News so that he can explain to him why the "Subprime Crisis" happened. I will start building a list of issues for Mr. Freeman, considering his website have none. The "suburbs" and the "inner cities" are the same, teachers standing in the "freezing cold" fighting for better teaching conditions and wages.

I was born and started of poor in Albany's South End so it is real and those people in the 21st District "suburbs" understand that. That is why they run from it and not fight to sustain it. Not having poor people pay federal income tax does not solve anything, but further divides Americans. What poor people need is to be as far away as possible from people like Mr. Freeman at "Free Government Authorities". I bet the money wasted on his employment at those government agencies could have been used by private entrepreneurs to grow the county's economy. People have heckled me for wasting bandwidth. I am heckling Mr. Freeman, and telling him that it is not more government funds (taxes) that are needed. It is leadership by people like him that are in positions of power.

His campaign video stating he is the only candidate "born and raised" in the 21st District may be correct. If it turns out that Phil Steck and Tracey Brooks were born in Albany County, New York or the 21st District he owes them an apology. That is why Albany's inner city is broken, because instead of communicating people like Freeman are focused on H.U.D. dollars. According to Tracey Brooks website she was born in Albany, New York. Freeman should know about his opponents before he opens his mouth.

I am still waiting for Freeman's position on the War in Iraq, that I suffer everyday from PTSD from. His position on Jimmy Tuffey and the allegations against the APD, and the Mayor. Tuffey is not in Colonie, but in Albany. Hilary trails Obama, because if you can't get things done at home Americans do not want you bringing your towns problems to D.C. Last time I checked the Town of Colonie had some of the lowest taxes in the county. A hybrid public housing authority. One of the best school districts in Albany County. A crime rate and police department that is accountable and is a part of the community. Bush sound good in 2000 and 2004, but obviously Al Gore is what was needed then and now. Lets not make the same mistake with our U.S. Congressional vote. Mr. Freeman would make a good opponent to Mr. Jennings for Mayor. Lester you can't fix the 21st District if you could not fix the City of Albany first. Come back in 2010 and try and again "Brother". Albany's problems and solutions are internal and do not involve the "suburbs". He should not take votes from Steck or Brooks. His issues are aligned with Mr. Steck and he should join the Steck or Brooks campaign. Brooks has a lot of endorsements, but other than the band wagon issue of Iraq where does she stand. The War in Iraq yeah we will all have "Iraqi Campaign Medals", but unless Steck or Brooks are willing to write impeachment legislation I don't want to hear about it. I just don't see it Freeman has no real message. How are the candidates going to help Mr. Conners eliminate the counties Medicaid, Public Housing and Welfare Bill? Poverty can be eliminated but it takes honesty and acceptance of the failure of past 20th Century programs. Freeman and Brooks have to come stronger or I am urging my family members in the Town of Colonie, City of Albany, Saratoga and Troy to stay far away from them.  It is entrepreneurs not government that is needed Mr. Freeman.

New Party Needed (none / 0) (#4)
by A Muse on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 12:06:34 PM EST
Ditch the Blue and Red Parties.  Would you join the Progressive Party?  That is what your ideas are like.  That could just possibly pull back Albany from a black hole.  Or you could get Stratton.

Freeman is not a serious candidate (none / 0) (#2)
by devtob 53 on Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 04:30:30 PM EST
Nobody knows who he is, and he can't raise money.

So far, the serious candidates are Steck, Brooks and Shahinfar.

Tonko would be added to that list, if he ever pulls the trigger.

The others are on weird ego trips occasioned by the first open Congressional seat in decades.

The Democrats are the party of the people.

The 21st Candidate needs to balance Gillibrand (none / 0) (#3)
by albarbor on Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 08:56:26 AM EST
I think who ever is elected to the 21st U.S. Congressional district needs to balance Ms. Gillibrand in congress. As of right now Tracey Brooks I believe would play the party line and follow Hilary. We need independence and we need change. Unless Phil Steck proves otherwise he will do the same. Mittleman has produced jobs run a business and has proven results.

The other candidates are government insiders that fit the D.C. profile. New York made that mistake Ms. Clinton who has done a lot of talking and not produced very many jobs. In the 1990s Americans made the mistake by overlooking Mr. Perot and going with what looked and sound good. We got a recession, expanded poverty, NAFTA, 9-11 and exploding prisons. We traded NAFTA for the Welfare Reform Act of 1996 and only made our problems worse.

Mr. Freeman did not talk about Jimmy Tuffey, Jerry Jennings or those kids on the corner of Lexington Ave and Clinton Ave trying to survive. Lester lets start a fight for Albany and in 2010 lets focus on trying to change the 21st District. Those kids don't need federal aid they need jobs and they need to see a promising future. At this point in Albany's history Mr. Freeman is in no position and has no record to accomplish that.
