More of same.
An Albany police sergeant was arraigned Tuesday after a sealed indictment was opened charging him with menacing as a result of allegations he pointed a loaded handgun at a civilian employee.
And look what someone who has worked with the APD for years does.
According to the person, McKenna leveled a loaded handgun at the head of the clerk, Shirley Morton, who has worked for the department since 1994. Morton had previously filed complaints about McKenna's behavior toward her with the department, the person said.

The gun allegedly brandished by McKenna was an off-duty personal revolver that belonged to Sgt. Peter Noonan. McKenna was warned by Noonan that the gun was loaded before he pointed the gun at Morton a second time, according to a person who witnessed the incident.

Morton was seated at a desk about five feet away from McKenna when the incident unfolded, the witness said.

Morton went to the Albany County District Attorney's Public Integrity Unit after she believed the department's internal affairs unit was not investigating the matter seriously, according to a source familiar with the victim.
See a pattern?

Someone outside the control of the city needs to investigate. Gotta wonder why all these stories are getting out at once. Maybe someone inside the force is trying to expose a few people.

The "off-duty revolver" is also known as a drop gun. I wonder what the policy is on those. Oops, "ask a silly question....."

I have delt with Noonan several times over the years. I doubt very much that it is a "drop gun."

I hope you are right, but on what basis do you believe that?

I have delt with enough of Albany's finest to be able to quickly get a fairly good read on them.

It is very easy to figure out which ones are just power hungry pricks and which ones are just plain rotten.

I know there are some cops who dont like Noonan, although I get the feeling that it has more to do with his political liniage (the whole Polly Noonan thing).

Noonan has always been professional when dealing with me (even when I didn't like what he was saying).

A quick and criptic question...... Does the word "landslide" make you start laughing? If so, this is Helen...

Sounds like the force needs to be downsized. (none / 0) (#2)

Sounds like the force needs to be downsized. Too many cops with to much time on their hands.

and now they're probably going to hand over McKenna and Bonnani. They are just the tip of the iceberg.  I hope that someone digs deep and they will find the APD will make the Schenectady police look like angels.

Why do you hope this? (none / 0) (#4)

That statement seems ludicrous to me!  How can anyone hope that this is true? What is wrong with you!

Your deep seeded hatred for the administration is shining through. So much so that you hope we have a corrupt police force, worse than Schenectady's, so you can say "I told you so!" and point fingers.

I hope that this woman is lying and the issues brough out in Brendon's story are slanted and untrue.  I was sickened after reading that story.  I never once wished abuses like that permeated throughout the whole department.

However, if they are true I hope that the officers involved get prosecuted to the full extent of the law because no one should be subjected to an abuse of power like that.
