Oversight in Albany?

When the result of all the information about the buying and selling of illegal machine guns resulted in Chief Tuffey declaring he would be running the investigation, I figured there wasn't much hope of change in Albany. Perhaps this latest incident, with it being so recent, might be a tipping point.
The city's legislative leaders have called for an outside agency to examine the Albany Police Department's handling of a woman's claim she was subjected to a cavity search on a public street two months ago, according to several members of the city's Common Council.
Also looks like the DA's office may get involved.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares said his office has requested to review the police department's files in the case.
And you know they are worried if Jennings is actually going to appear in public and say anything at all.
Chief James W. Tuffey and Mayor Jerry Jennings have scheduled a news conference for this afternoon at police headquarters to discuss the department's policies and procedures, training and their handling of internal affairs complaints. Tuffey said he would be limited in what he can discuss regarding Shutter's allegations because it's an open investigation.
However, Jennings certainly has tipped his hand on how they are going to try to address this one. Lie, lie, lie! How can I tell? Because this statement is a lie. They have "tolerated" all misconduct by members of the APD.
"We're not going to tolerate any misconduct by our police," the mayor said
Here is an example. When an ADA got drunk and crashed his car into a parked car one night, he was promptly fired. When a cop got drunk and crashed his car into a building and burned it down, the mayor asked the media to "leave him alone, he's a good kid".

That is 100 proof tolerance in action.

"blue nose"committee to look into the problem (and bury it)?  That is, if the PBA gives it's approval.

I also bet there will not be an apology extended by Jim or Jerry to the young lady who had her private parts fingered by one of Albany's finest the other day!

These two politicians are the epitomies of crassness... lacking in the most basic civility.

It's good that Soares is checking into it, but it's doubtful how much he'll be able to do.  It looks more and more like we need outside interference here.  And I don't mean the Feds or FBI.  I mean the media.  This is getting so ridiculous, it's almost laughable.  I could see Leno making jokes about it.  In fact, maybe we could get Springer to come do a show here.  Clinton likes Jennings' support, let's put it in her lap.  Anybody who is associated with Ol' Jerr-kov after this is gonna have some embarrassing egg on their face, at the very least.  I wouldn't be surprised to see this whole mess blow up in a huge way and become a national scandal.  It just needs something to spark it.  That could be the best way to turn this whole shebang around.

Get Spitzey (or Hillary, if elected president) to offer "his nibs" one of those $180,000-$190,000 jobs...with chauffered limo, administrative assistant, body guard, the works!!!

In the absence of any real competition for his job...that is the only way he is going to leave his lifetime appointment to the mayoralty post by the majority of voters in Albany.
