"It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new ones." Machiavelli
Paging Gene Rayburn: 21st CDBy albany layman, Section Diaries
Five announced (or soon to be announced) Dem candidates in the 21st CD race. If we get one more, the Dems can play The Match Game rather than having debates.
It's still very early in this process. My intention here was (once again) to post links to the candidates' web sites so that you check things out for yourself. However, there isn't much to see on the sites for Freeman, Shahinfar, and Mittleman. (Mittleman doesn't officially announce until tomorrow.) But, for the sake of creating a placeholder here at DIA, here are the sites. Judge for yourself. There they are. Watch those spaces for updates. If and when the candidates have more substance on their sites, I'll look through them and try to summarize their positions on issues. Apparently, there may be a sacrificial Republican in the race. Schenectady County Legislator Jim Buhrmaster is considering a run. (Disclosure: Tracey Brooks is an old friend of mine. Please note that this does not mean I am endorsing her, or even that I am voting for her. If that changes, I'll disclose that too.)
