"It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new ones." Machiavelli
Tuffey IS responsible...By FedUp, Section Diaries
when he started as chief he was given the responsibility to manage his force. Everyone on this blog seems to agree that Bonanni is a disgrace who should have been dealt with; they disagree with the "how" and "who had the ultimate responsibility". As the top manager Tuffey could have and should have dealt with this long ago.
Tuffey said no to cameras in the interrogation rooms and blocked putting cameras in the police cars. Anyone know how many cars have cameras today? The first time you catch a bad egg like Bonanni on camera you have all the proof you need to fire, and no arbitrator, union, or manager can dispute the facts.
When you ignore the problems they grow and fester ie- Bonanni and the gun scandal as two examples. Continued poor management by Tuffey, continued use of words like "not accountable" in describing him. Isn't it time, folks, for a leader whose words match his actions?
