Albany County Democratic Humor

Unintentional humor, but I find it funny. After deciding to make a back room deal instead of hold an election, one of the newly "selected" leaders of the Albany County Democratic Party had this to say:
Brown, a Democratic worker in the Republican stronghold of Colonie for three decades, said it's been a "dream of mine to expand the empire."
And what could be more American or Democratic than wanting to expand the empire.

Two of the Breslins Albany people get left out.

The low turnout was because they allowed proxies.

I read that same comment two our three times and thought the same thing...what an odd thing to say! (I was thinking Darth Vadar)  All it needed was an evil laugh at the end of the sentence!  MwAhahahahaha!

The only good think about that entire process is that the TU did not give the pulpit to annoying Dick Barrett! There is a god!

I missed it when I read it, being so used to things.

I have to say it saddens me to be so disappointed in the political party I call home.

If it won't change, I have to make a change.

No one likes change. (none / 0) (#4)

Neither party in Albany will voluntarily change itself.  The patronage system has hurt the taxpayers and is divisive.  A one party system is not called democracy.  There must be a complete upset of the party for any changes to take place.  Who will risk all to attempt to make the change?  The current Mayor is not going to rock the boat, and he got his wife a cushy secretarial non-competitive job with the state for which she is overpaid. Promises. Promises.  Residents are just waiting till the day they die to have them filled. Ancestors of immigrants risked all to come to a new world.  What have Albany residents risked?  Well they risked electing a High School Assistant Principal to run the City.  When you make a bad choice don't keep making it.  If one looks back at Albany High it mirrors Albany itself.  Not the image to attract business and industry unless of course the City is selling a large uneducated workforce.

Isn't that why Bosworth moved to Guilderland?

was an unfortunate choice of words, which politicians at a higher level are also prone to do on occasion.

I think what she was trying to say is that Democrats are growing in strength outside the city and that that strength should be reflected in the county committee.

Unless you think it's a good idea that Jennings run the county as well as the city, which I don't think you do.
The Democrats are the party of the people.

we need wholesale change at the city, county and state level when it comes to democrats.

The status quo sucks.   I trust no one who is willing to accept a leadership position as an "elected" official when there has been no valid election.

it was an unfortunate choice of words.   There have been a long string of unfortunate events regarding democrats in Albany.  But as i watch all the incumbents continue to run our state into the ground and make a mockery of democracy, I need to at least be able to laugh on occasion.  Can't yell for change all the time.

The albany city democrats are not the party of the people.   They suffer from the ailments of longterm one party rule.   Our own little Tom Delays.
