Looks like the topics will be picking themselves. Today its the budget fiasco. To prepare for day five's posting on the city of Albany budget, start with this letter to the editor for the city clerk. The money quote:
For those citizens who come to a Common Council meeting, they will see an engaged and participatory body.

Members listen intently to public comment, and routinely jot down notes during public comment. I would encourage all citizens to come and participate in the process.
Luckily the council responded quickly to our FOIL request for the content of the notes that are so diligently jotted. Unfortunately they redacted the authors of the notes so you have to decided which members wrote them. The notes.
"why are citizens so damn chatty? Before Jerry made me run for this position I'd never even attended one of these meetings. Don't these people have anything better to do?"

"First I'll have a beer. No...beer AND a shot. Two shots. I wonder if that waitress will be working tonight....oh yeah...I should've brought my flask so I could take a 'bathroom break'...next time"

"When I'm mayor, things will be different. Who will I fire first...."

"I bet if I blamed the school board Jerry would like me better"

"We spent $40 grand on a new sound system so I could hear this whining more clearly?!"

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. ALL work and NO play makes jack a DULL boy. All work and low pay makes jack a dull boy"
