Schumer on Torture

John Dean was Nixon's attorney. When he says something like this, you might want to pay attention.
Before the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee completely cave-in to Bush, at minimum they should demand that Judge Mukasey appoint a special prosecutor to investigate if war crimes have been committed. If Mukasey refuses he should be rejected. This, indeed, should be a pre-condition to anyone filling the post of Attorney General under Bush.

If the Democrats in the Senate refuse to demand any such requirement, it will be act that should send chills down the spine of every thinking American.
Any thinking Americans out there? Anyone want to bet Chuck Schumer does not look out for your best interests but is a pawn of the powerful?
Mr. Schumer announced his support after meeting with Mr. Mukasey this afternoon. “Judge Mukasey is not my ideal choice,” Mr. Schumer said in a statement afterward. “However, Judge Mukasey, whose integrity and independence is respected even by those who oppose him, is far better than anyone could expect from this administration.”
Do you ever remember a Republican conceding an inch to the Democrats? No, of course you don't. We need some Senators in NY who are better than anyone could expect from this adminstration. Here is my prediction. Schumer will not oppose war with Iran. In fact I'm sure he'll help lead the cheers. With some strongly worded support from Hillary. And before you buy into their lies on the subject, you might want to read this little number about the US and Iran.

check out what AIPAC is bragging about on their website these days

AIPAC Directors of Policy and Government Affairs Marvin Feuer and Brad Gordon briefed nearly 50 Capitol Hill staffers and other policy professionals about the steps needed to prevent a nuclear Iran. Feuer and Gordon, speaking to the group in a meeting room in the Capitol, spoke about the status of U.S. efforts to impose sanctions on Iran, the failure of the international community to enact a unified sanctions regime, and the growing urgency of taking immediate action in the face of Iran's continued defiance of the U.N. Security Council. They also discussed how Iran has frequently spurned past U.S. attempts at dialogue as well as the potential ability of sanctions to prevent war. Their presentations were followed by a lively question-and-answer session.

I'm sure that question and answer session was lively.

Schumer is an annoying dipshit. In this environment, that makes him a great leader.

You have a President who has no respect for the law, a Vice-President who believes that his office is constitutionally immune from any kind of oversight, and a congress that is run like a little-league concession stand.

Instead of trying to create more entitlement programs that the nation cannot afford, maybe they should be restoring our civil rights. You know, minor issues like the 40,000+ Patriot Act warrants issued for non-terrorist organizations and the monitoring of phone calls and internet traffic (and granting immunity to companies that broke the law in doing so). And how about the national farce with respect to voting machines? Where's the congress on that?
