There are two pieces in the current Metroland about Brian Scavo. Honestly you could not make this stuff up. Here's just one of the many disturbing things.
A number of women have come forward with complaints about aggressive and unwanted advances by 53-year-old Scavo that continued even after they requested that he desist. Albany Common Council President Shawn Morris expressed serious concern about Scavo’s dealings with young women.

“As a politician, I should temper my remarks, but as a mother I cannot,” she stated. “He crossed a double-yellow line for me when he asked my 17-year-old daughter on a date.”

According to Morris, Scavo proceeded to ask her neighbor’s 17 year-old daughter on a date as well, conduct that worried Morris enough to bring the issue to one of the Albany Police Department’s neighborhood outreach officers
WTF?!

You'll also want to check out Miriam Axel Lute's piece. Here is a sample.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. I happen to live in Ward 7, and when I went to vote in that election, Scavo accosted me outside the polling place to tell me he was “disappointed” by the endorsement, which he thought was unfair, but that we could still be friends. He tried to hug me. On my way out, he began shouting at me from across the parking lot: “Hey baby, give me a kiss. Hey, reporter lady.”

Fortunately, those in the 7th Ward (none / 0) (#1)

Have a choice.  David Lussier is more than qualified.  I had the fortune to talk with him when he challenged Glenn Casey (that alone makes him worth voting for!!) a few years ago.  He is rational and has a good grasp of the issues facing Albany.

While I do not typically go for Green Party candidates, those in this district should STRONGLY consider David Lussier, before Scavo humilates the district and the City (apart from what Jennings and cronies are already doing in that category).

Scavo (none / 0) (#2)

I am not surprised to hear of Scavo's inappropriate harrassment of women at ALL. When he was campaigning for the common council in 2005, I had the misfortune to live in his district. I also made the mistake of answering the door when he rang my doorbell to hand out flyers and campaign. During the course of this first visit, he repeatedly asked to come into my apartment (I refused), and asked me inappropriate questions ("Is there a 'man of the house'? No? We should do dinner sometime"). I finally slammed the door in his face, but this didn't end the harrassment. As the weeks leading up to the election approached, he rang my doorbell on the average of 4 times a week. I never answered it. I saw him with increasing frequency on my street, always at the time I would be arriving home from work, and he always had a slimy thing to yell at me from his beat up van - like "that sweater really highlights your assets". In the days leading up to the election, he was appearing every day on my street and if I happened to see his van, or see him hanging out at the pizzeria across the street, he would try to get my attention and yell out something skeevy like "one of these times when I ask, you'll say yes!". One time I was out walking my dog and he ran up and tried to take the dog's leash from me! He only stopped when I whipped out my cell phone and started dialing the police. This man is BAD news and just may be a psychopath. Do NOT vote for him.

Finally Some DIA comments about Scavo! (none / 0) (#3)

I was wondering where DIA's comments on Scavo were. He is so outrageous that more than a few columns could be written on his antics. And he wants to be elected to the county legislature. I DO hope the people of the 7th district come to their senses. I think everyone was sleeping when they failed to realize the threat he posed to good government and sensible thinking. So he won the primary. Now people have to wake up and realize that we will be electing a clown if we let him get elected. He has been and will be a disgrace to the 7th legislative district.

Dave Lussier is a quality candidate, I've met him a couple of times, he is seriously committed to neighborhoods and has a record of community involvement.  We'd all be better if there were more folks like him running for public office, I'm not in the district, but he'd be a solid elected official.

3 pieces on this race (none / 0) (#5)

You might say the Metroland actually had 3 pieces in this race.  The 2 pieces that DIA mentioned and the endorsements in which the Metroland backs Lussier (the only endorsement they made for the County Legislature) see:  http://www.metroland.net/endorsements.html

Brian Scavo is unfit to represent anyone... (none / 0) (#6)

other than himself, and that he does most poorly.

Vote for Dave Lussier because Scavo is so Bad (none / 0) (#7)

This whole election for the county legislature is quite the thing. You've got Brian Scavo on the one hand. He is a guy with no clear politics because he selects issues that are way out in left - or should I say right - field. It is widely understood that the mayor dislikes him but he is also a thorn in the side of the neighborhood activists. On the other hand there is David Lussier and the Green Party. David Lussier is the only serious candidate. By serious I mean one who takes the race seriously and tries to offer serious solutions. This cannot be said for Scavo.

I would just like to comment on Scavo and his behavior. The issues in the campaign are not what Scavo says they are. They are aboandoned buildings and responsible representation in government. Everybody knows what the abandoned buildings issue is. Responsibile representation in government is another way of saying "Look at Scavo's behavior". Every time I see him he is going in a step deeper in trashing the idea of responsible government and responsible representation.

He ignored the "will of the people" (a much maligned phrase that politicians twist what ever way they can) and ran as the law and order party in his 2005 race for common council. He bolted the democratic party when he didn't like what the party did. Now he wants to criticize the neighborhood activists who are supporting Lussier because Scavo won the democratic primary for county legislature. Why do you only like that when it suits you Brian?

He ran for common countil in 2005 as the law and order party. Who was he trying to send a signal to with that name? Certainly not criminals. The only people to whom that was directed in the past were minorities and students. It has never been clear to me if he is using that as a cover for racist sentiments but I have always suspected it to be the case. In the mean time he has recently shown that he does not care for election law as he failed to file the necessary reports in the 2005 election and does not fill them out accurately for this 2007 election. He is behind on his taxes. He was arrested 12 years ago for falsifying a car registration document. He has been repeatedly accused of stalking women. He uses a tax brake on a building he should live in but dose not and he engages in thugism on the campaign trail by seeking to intimidate people into taking his signs and literature.

His people helping people slogan is a real laugh. He tries to help people with their assessments in challenging them. Fine and dandy. He doesn't need to be elected to do that. How about doing some of the things other people in the neighborhood do like helping fire victims, collecting toys for needy families for the holidays, and food? How about helping clean the streets on clean-up days? How about helping with the farmers' markets? How about helping with the neighborhood watch?

How about knowing what the job of a county legislator is? Brian doesn't seem to know that. He suggests the issues are schools, street crime, and emergency preparedness. None of those are the job of the county legislature. Further he rails against recent tax increases. He should know that the county has been in a financial crisis and raised taxes to get out of it. The current legislators are very concerned about waste and economy but Brian Scavo says he is against all tax increaes. He even chided Tom Monjeau over a vote he had in the legislature on a tax increase. Well Mr. Scavo will be out of step with all the other county legislators. Monjeau's vote was along with his colleagues. They all voted for the increase. Perhaps Scavo should go find another party? He can caucus with himself and vote against the Democratic party because that is what he seems to want to do.

Finally I would like to comment on Scavo's attempt to post an illegal ad on a web site for tenants for his rooms he rents out. The ad broke the human rights laws of the state and offered to discriminate. Breaking the law for a man who took on the mantal of "law and order" seems to be a very easy thing for Scavo. Again, Scavo tries to have it both ways when it is to his convenience. This is not someone anyone should want as a public official.

I hope people will weigh the personality of this individual and vote against him. He is demonstrating himself as being irresponsible, lawless, and someone who will make a lousy public servant.

Vote Row F where you will find David Lussier, the only qualified and legitimate

David Lussier is the only choice.  For the sake of the residents on 7th Legislative District, I hope he wins.
