Chartock on Albany

Three weeks in a row I've listened to parts of the Media Project. I must say I was quite surprised when Chartock was making a general example that went something like this:
Let's say that you are talking to an elected official, like say the Mayor of Albany, and you mention that, you know, the city is really in decline and is facing some real problems, that certainly can influence the Mayor...
It was a discussion on how media and politicians influence each other. First time I've heard criticism of the Mayor from that venue. This coming the same week that Councilman Scalzo was on record as being critical of Tuffey's handling of the gun dealing issue. Bob Dylan was just in town. Perhaps the times they are a'changin.

who in the local media has enough moxie to put  tough questions to the Mayor and his cronies, or the Breslin gang, on as continuous and forceful basis...certainly no one from the TU (with the arena marque and all) or the five local TV stations.

They seem to prefer taking a "nothing" story like "troopergate" and run with it, day after day, for weeks on end. Fluff = ratings & sales!
