Democracy In Albany County

For some reason its not on the TU website. But in the print version (damn its cold out there walking to get your print version), there is a story about how the Albany County Dems are working out a negotiation to resolve the illegal election they had. Local political commentator Dick Barret had some good quotes. Here you go. Link 'em if you got 'em.
You don't bring a part together in unity through a backroom political deal.

Why is it so difficult for the Albany County Democratic Committee to have a fair, honest and legal election?

A backroom deal takes the election of a chairman out of the hands of the elected representatives of the Democratic voters, the committee members...A dirty, rotten political deal in the darkness of the night behind closed doors is not what democracy is all about
Amen. Someone should get that guy a blog.

Not really.

(I could have sworn you made a post earlier today that you'd be away, and I was going to follow your fine lead.  I was posting a lot about Albany dem. goons, and holding them accountable, but it reached a point where I want to stop providing info to the goons and let investigations happen without commentary.  I'll be back if there's more to say to help someone else.)

Seems Barret has had a ringside seat for many years.  His remarks on right on the money.

Bosworth & Commisso seem to be two guys with monumental egos.  Does anyone really think that these two can exist as co-chairs?  Both will need to wear bullet proof vests and install a metal detector at Dem headquarters.

The backstabbing will now continue and Albany county Democrats lose all input into state politics because of squabbling egotists.  There will be no unity.  The Republicans must love this crap.  Sneaky back room deals which continue to divide Democrats is not democracy.  Thanks to Bosworth & Commisso, Albany county Dems will have a non-functioning, ineffective organization.

They should have stepped aside for the good of the party and found a single compromise chair to lead the party.

Steck and the other town leaders have been effective only in getting to the brink of takeover--now will they have the wisdom to recognize that Jerry Dangerfield is all hat and no cattle, and end the city domination once and for all?  They have the votes, use 'em....

The Silence of the Deal (none / 0) (#5)

A dirty rotten backroom political deal is what politics are all about.  The Albany Democratic Party is a great example of it.  The Clinton's are another example on the Presidential Level.  And so the Republicans do not feel left out well there was a snafu at the Watergate and that was done in the dark and the time North was running the country.  Where does anyone get off thinking that the ignorant uneducated (party doing) voters should have a say in any election.  It is all about the money.  Nothing else. It is important not to have schools that educate our children.  They might grow up and throw the bums out.

I agree with nitevision's take on this, (none / 0) (#6)

however, an election is required.

Even if its winner has been decided by a dirty backroom agreement beforehand.
