The People vs. Christian Mesley

So, apparently Albany Police Union President Christian Mesley thinks we should care what he thinks. What he seems to fail to understand is that we didn't elect him, his union did. However, we did elect the District Attorney. What he also seems to not understand is that he has absolutely no credibility with the public because he has recently lied to cover for an officer who crashed his car while drunk AND threatened the Times Union in another case involving an officer crashing his car after drinking alcohol. Or remember what he said about Officer Geraci being charged with assault:
"I'm not happy about it but there's nothing I can do about it," he said.
Sure there is something you can do Mesley. How about attacking the DA the next chance you get over some bogus made up controversy. I'm sure you can do that. Really sure. Perhaps everyone in the Union thinks Mesley is doing a great job. Great, re-elect him then. Just like we the people will re-elect David Soares. But Chris Mesley calling for David Soares to resign a week after Mesley threatened the local press. Ha. If we're going to live in a town where Mesley gets to decide what is printed in the press and what elected officials are allowed to say...well, we're not. Get used to it Mesley. And remember this:
"I would remind the president of the Albany Police Officer's Union that I don't work for the Albany Police, I don't work for the City of Albany, I work for the people of Albany County and it's not his decision to make," Soares said.
Or remember when Mesley got angry about the Guardian Angels coming to town. Remember what Mayor Jennings said then?
"Once again, Mesley doesn't know what he's talking about"
Once again.

i'd like to point out that in Mesley's world if one of his union members gets drunk and crashes his car into a building and the building burns down...that is not something that would require the person to resign.  However, saying that we might want to discuss ways to improve the drug policies in this country...in Mesley's world, that is pretty much the worse thing a person could do.   Makes sense, right?

So you lift a quote from the Mayor responding to a completely different situation to prove this guy doesnt know what he is talking about.

Isn't that, well, a little questionable?

As for Soares working for me, a county resident, right. Too bad we do not have recall in this state.

I have noticed something DIA, there have been several stories regading violent attacks in the paper and I dont seem to remember any comment from you on this.

Here is todays:

ALBANY -- A 24-year-old Colonie Street man was charged with robbery, burglary and weapons possession Saturday after police say he entered a Green Street home, punched two people and stole $40.

It is too bad that the Times Union doesnt do a good police blotter. I would be interested in knowing if this attacker,Uriah M. John, has been in the system.

I lift a quote from the mayor that illustrates that there have been repeated incidents where Mesley doesn't know what he is talking about.  I think that is pretty clear how I wrote the piece.

It is amazing.  do you know no one ever broke into anyone's home and robbed them while Paul Clyne was DA?  I'm trying to find the link to that stat....

The stats for Clyne are there.

The stats for Soares are not as Terry already pointed out.

So, if you can pull stories off the times union quoting the Mayor and use that as proof can I do the same thing without rebuttle?

I had someone recently remind me of Soares "storefront" speach from early in his campaign. Can that be used as proof that Soares is an idiot?

As with my new friend Kate, I just want to make sure that I try to use the same standards of proof as you guys use.

You quote the mayor as proof after spending the last couple of years running him down and you dont expect someone to go HUH?

King Kong Gilkey, the terror of the streets, on his opionion of Soares:

"Hrmmmppll rrrhhummmpphl rrrummphdly!"

Sorry, King Kong usually mutters, but I am sure I got the quote right.

Of come now, you knew I was going to do something.
