Pine Bush Illegally Bulldozed

Remember those consultants that Mayor Jennings hired to tell him that a new convention center was a great investment for the city despite all evidence to the contrary? Well, if Jennings gets to build his convention center and is still around when it is failing fantastically, expect him to point the finger at those paid liars (consultants) and say, "but...its not my fault...i'm just a simple old Mayor...the consultants said it was ok". To the latest example of this defense. Jennings sent the bulldozers into the protected pinebush last week. When he got caught, look what he said:
Environmentalists slammed the city for bulldozing roads through part of the Pine Bush Preserve to get a jump on unapproved plans to expand the rapidly filling Rapp Road dump.

Crews cut swaths through pitch pines along the landfill's western boundary on April 27. But by Friday, the city had backpedaled and was blaming a consultant for ordering too much work.
Oops. It was the consultants that did it. Well, perhaps we should hire better consultants then, eh? Ones who don't start illegally bulldozing protected land?

Check out the Albany Weblog for much more detail.
