par·ti·san

A fervent, sometimes militant supporter or proponent of a party, cause, faction, person, or idea.

Devoted to or biased in support of a party, group, or cause: partisan politics.

A weapon having a blade with lateral projections mounted on the end of a long shaft, used chiefly in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Criticize a Republican these days and you can be sure one of their spokespuppets, or even the Rich White Christian Male being criticized might speak up himself and say that the criticism is just "partisan politics" (if they aren't calling you a traitor or a terrorist supporter). The problem is a lot of these Rich White Christian Males share some other defining characteristics these days. They are either corrupt to the point of being convicted and doing some serious jail time or they are just dancing well over the line of reasonable ethics. So, if you ask a question regarding their corruption you are of course being "partisan". I recommend responding to this accusation with a fast and loud "thank you...we are partisan...we are fervent..even militant supporters of the idea that corrupt politicians must go".

So, John Sweeney (R-NY)has been getting some attention from the Department of Justice. Some of the other people receiving similar attention are Tom Delay, Conrad Burns, Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, John Dolittle. Mr. Sweeney's spokeswoman Melissa Carlson calls any questioning as to why the DOJ is reviewing Sweeney's personal financial records "partisan politics".

I agree. All of the other people getting reviewed have either been indicted, been convicted and sentenced or have some serious questions about how the money they received influenced the way they did their jobs. And since we are a partisan group, when it comes to corruption this question for Sweeney is highly partisan. Just what was the DOJ doing reviewing your personal financial records?

As a side note. We saw a similiar accusation from Sweeney's son's lawyer after little Sweeney and some friends beat the shit out of some kid and put him in the hospital. The prosecution was supposed to be "politically motivated". According to the TU, "The younger Sweeney pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in December"
