"It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new ones." Machiavelli
Sweeney gives $1,000 to SherwoodBy DIA, Section News
Maybe John Sweeney has been too busy donating money to his fellow woman abusing congressman to get to filing the paperwork to get the "real" police report. Seems that yesterday he found the time to give Don Sherwood a $1,000 via his Freshman PAC.
Perhaps he felt bad since the news just broke yesterday that Sherwood paid his mistress $500,000 to keep quiet. Makes you wonder what Sweeney paid his first wife to stay so silent. Update [2006-11-3 11:25:5 by DIA]: Just to get an idea of Sweeney's business savvy. Last year his Freshman PAC raised $2.7 million dollars, donated $118,000 to other candidates and ended up the year $40K in debt. So of the $2.7 million he raised to help other candidates....he only donated $118,000. And he spent the other $2.6 million paying people to raise all that money and, naturally, on himself. Gives you some perspective on his comments about how great the economy is these days. PACs are notoriously bad at this with most only donating between $0.20 and $0.30 per dollar raised. Big John might just be the worst around at $0.04 for ever dollar raised.
