From the Business Review article on 3/9/98 titled "KeyCorp appoints Dare to district board of directors"...a bit of background.

In early 1998 KeyCorp appointed Dare to its Albany district board of directors. In that capacity Dare advised the Cleveland-based company "on its image, initiatives and performance in the local marketplace. KeyCorp is parent to KeyBank, the largest bank operating in the Capital Region".

Its too bad that National Financial went under when they did.  Aaron Dare would now be seen as a visionary and an example of success.

Yes National Financial went under, yet the scoundrel behind the collage, David Silipigno is now out and about with some charitable foundation acting like a latter day Carnegie. However that collapse only accelerated the Urban League's collapse, look at the audit reports. Dare was spending agency cash freely around town, living large with absolutely no accountability. The auditors actually stated that records were not adequate to audit. The amazing this is that the AG didn't move against the Board of Directors, they clearly did not exercise their fiduciary duties.

We are in a time when status and the conspicuous display of wealth are more important than substance.

While life is too short for a cheap cigar- as the saying goes- I couldn't imagin paying $800 or so dollars for a bottle of booze.
