Candidate Kirsten Gillibrand to publicly sign Voters First Pledge

On Tuesday, October 24th, Citizen Action of New York will hold a press conference to unveil a new report detailing Rep. John Sweeney's ties to special interest donors and lobbyists on issues that matter to New Yorkers. The report will be issued on the banks of the Hudson River, highlighting Sweeney's ties to his number one campaign donor, General Electric.

Sweeney's opponent, Kirsten Gillibrand, will attend to sign the Voters First Pledge to demonstrate her commitment to cleaning up Congress. The Voters First Pledge includes three specific measures designed to put voters before campaign contributors and lobbyists.

The ten issues included in the report, called "Sweeney for Sale," are drug prices, health insurance, cleaning up the Hudson, bankruptcy protections, trade deals, kids smoking, big oil, protecting forests, energy deregulation, and consumer rights.
