I'm about as good at retiring as Michael Jordan...

Wow. I love that Inside Politics. They really love to come out and rub the truth in your face. They don't care about who it will affect. Once someone loses an election, the gloves are off. And so they have some good Mike Brown quotes. Please use the comment section to come up with your best Mike Brown concession speech. Here is mine:
So, this is it. The white man has finally taken over. I never thought i would see the day. I've been in office for 12 years representing the black man in the 3rd. I'm black. Really damn black. Blacker than Martin Luther King Jr. I'm so black, to make sure I didn't get too black, I had to get a white campaign manager. My white campaign manager helped me win votes by not making me the blackest man ever. He also helped me do whatever Mayor Jennings told me to do. He also helped win the vote of the one non black person in the 3rd. Yeah, I never knew there were white people in the third either, but once I found out I tried to get them to move. I use to go to their house and tell them that we didn't have any room for "The Man" to be living in the third. And, now, on this dark day, there is one more white man in the 3rd...Corey Ellis. He's white. White as a cockroach. Whiter than my homey Mayor Jennings. Whiter than rice. Definitely whiter than the Mayor's brother who helped me throw out the white poll watchers in the primary. Speaking of the primary. White is a primary color. You know I won the primary? Because Joe Bruno's white lawyers helped me win the primary. Lily white lawyers. They had crisp white collars on their shirts. Shit, the problem with the white man Corey Ellis is that he don't play ball. I won the primary, he stole the general election...that means we're 1 and 1. What ever happened to playing best 4 out of 7? If its good enough for Michael Jordan its good enough for me. Larry Bird might be able to win the 3 point contest but he would only play once. Like Corey Ellis. Corey Ellis is whiter than Larry Bird. And you know what Larry Bird was? "An elitist freak show led by lily-white hypocrites who rented a few black people." You think Robert Parish wanted to play with that whitey... wearing some damn leprechaun outfit? Hell no. Bird rented him. Cedric Maxwell? Rented. Did you know Bird's nickname was "lily"? Anyway, I'm getting tired...where is my cracker...uh...crackerjack campaign manager? Got to tell him to get me a moving van. You think i'm living here if i can't take advantage of these people? Hell no. I'm getting a place next to the golf course so I can be black like Tiger Woods. Got to get me some of those short pants they wear...

Im going to shut down after the election.

I think Im going to take some time off after the election.

Im going to spend a couple of months catching up on almost a years worth of dirty (non political type of dirty laundry) that has been accumulating on my floor.

Ill take time off, really I will, but maybe I will update when the Mayor and the the Betty the Quarter Monster do something really studid.

Oh look- Michael Brown is doing something stupid.  If I take time off his stupidity wont be remembered.  Maybe one little post. One post can't hurt.

Welcome back DIA- you had me worried. Really. And I do, sometimes worry.  I was afraid I would have to start, like talking to my wife for conversation.

Jamie is not a cracker.  He is more like a bread stick.  Im not a cracker, Im a muffin. Too fat to be a cracker.

I will not raise taxes...I will fire anyone involved who leaked this information...I will take several months off...

I said I'd be posting next week and than that was it.  I made a mistake by not anticipating Brown's concession speech.   I couldn't pass that up.   However, I'm pretty proud of myself for not writing yesterday when the TU had a picture of Bruno with the word "Loser" right under it.  That took some restraint.  Baby steps.

Lets be honest with one another here.  We both know that the really good stories always are fed out in the few weeks AFTER the election here in Albany.  While the TU may talk a good game, they are well known for sitting on hard hitting stories until after the election.

Are you honestly going to tell me that you will not be reading the anticipated stories of fraud and political infighting without wanting to post???

Michael Brown's Boogie (none / 0) (#5)
by nitevision on Fri Nov 11, 2005 at 07:34:22 AM EST
Did anyone really expect Michael Brown just to boogie off the stage? Many of us are saddened that we won't be hearing his ridiculous rants in the future.
Michael should hope for warmer weather so he can sit in his time share condo, fire up a doobie and remember the days when he attacked "da man."  Brown is nothing more than a cartoon character.  Honesty, integrity and serving the public were avoided at all costs.  Lying to a federal court about his income.  Refusing to answer questions about voter fraud over 150 times by invoking the fifth amendment.  Are we going to miss this clown or what?
Take heart my brothers, the system works.  David Soares hasn't done a damn thing to protect voters, although he promised to do so.  Soares Public Integrity Unit hasn't produced a thing.  Thankfully, a small group of citizens hired private attorneys to prevent Brown and company from stealing another election, when the DA failed to act.  Then the voters spoke saying "bye-bye Brown."  The little guys in the Third Ward stood up and reclaimed our rights.
DIA, I wouldn't dare compete with your suggested concession speech.  It's perfect.

Applause (none / 0) (#6)

At my neighborhood association meeting the day after the election, someone mentioned Brown's defeat and a big round of applause ensued.

It was a quite a moment -- the first time that Michael Brown's name ever caused anyone in the 3rd Ward to clap and cheer (except maybe when he was handing out those free hot dogs.)
