convention centers (outside of Las Vegas and Florida) were/are money-losing propositions.

The large downtown arena, in conjunction with the Empire State Plaza's and downtown hotels' meeting spaces, can pretty much handle any mid-sized convention that may want to come to Albany.

No matter what Jennings says to the contrary.

But Jennings has political bills to repay to developers and construction unions, so the absurd Albany convention center will probably be built.

And state and county taxpayers will pay the bill for decades.
The Democrats are the party of the people.
